Ro’Vin Garrett

Currently employed as a client liaison by the law firm of Perdue Brand Fielder Collins and Mott, LLP, Ro’Vin Garrett  served as Brazoria County Tax Assessor-Collector from January 1, 2001, through December 31, 2020,  retiring after serving 36 years in the Brazoria County Tax Office.RoVin Garrett photo

Garrett is a Past President of the Tax Assessor-Collectors Association of Texas (TACA) and served six years as the organization’s Secretary/Treasurer, and 4 years as the TACA Director of Education.  In 2013 she received the TACA Distinguished Service Award and was recognized as Tax Assessor-Collector of the Year in 2020.

Garrett is also a past President of the Texas School Assessor’s Association and received the Texas Association of Appraisal District’s CAD Board Member of the Year in 2016.  She has served on the curriculum committee of the Property Tax Education Coalition and served on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Property Tax Professional Advisory Committee.

Garrett has worked during many legislative sessions serving as a resource on property taxes. She has been instrumental in helping pass numerous bills over the years, striving to best meet the needs of constituents and local government. She was an invited member of Governor Abbott’s Tax Policy Committee of county officials prior to the 2019 Legislative Session.

In her community, in addition to serving on the FHPW Education Foundation Board, she is a 2012 FHPW “Woman of Excellence”, 2019 Chair of the Houston Area Council of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), VP of Finance and a past President of the South East Express Network (SEEN) of ABWA, the 2013 SEEN “Woman of the Year” and is Treasurer and past President of the Exchange Club of Angleton.  She has previously served on the board of the Community Food Pantry, the Brazoria County Alliance for Children and the Angleton Chapter of the American Red Cross.  Garrett is a serving elder and past Trustee of the First Presbyterian Church of Angleton, Texas, where she has led small group studies and taught Financial Peace University.  She is the recipient of the 1997 Outstanding Woman of the Texas Agricultural Aviation Association.

She has three grown children, two daughters and a son and is the grandmother to two granddaughters and one grandson.
