FHPW President's Letter
Power Up!
2026 FHPW President's Message - July 2026
Don’t Miss Our July 27 Quarterly Meeting
Yes, it’s hot outside. But all the really cool girls are going to be at our Q3 FHPW meeting, which will feature a panel of educators as well as the introduction of our 2026 Women of Excellence.
The theme is “Power Up Your Knowledge and Skills,” and the following panelists will share the latest educational opportunities for both business owners and corporate employees:
You will be able to pick up information about the latest AI certificates and courses, lists of free online courses, brochures about new degree programs, and important training for business owner success.
In addition, you will be able to meet the Women of Excellence and see their wonderful videos recorded by Amberly Alexander of Bronze Production Studios.
In preparation for our Women of Excellence Gala on September 19, we encourage your member organization to bring your donations for the Wine & Liquor Pull and gift baskets for the Silent Auction to the July 27 Quarterly Meeting. Also, register for the gala online before August 1 to take advantage of the early-bird discount.
Many of you may think that “School’s out for summer!” However, learning can never stop when things are changing as rapidly as they are today, otherwise you will be left behind. And I have always believed that education is one of the best investments you can make in yourself and others. So I hope to see you at our FHPW Quarterly Meeting on July 27!
Love, Jeanne

2026 FHPW President's Message
Happy New Year, and welcome to 2026, a year full of promise! As your FHPW President this year, I have chosen the theme “Power up!” My vision is to morph FHPW into the Federation of Houston’s Powerful Women.
Our Quarterly Meetings will focus on powering up various aspects of our lives:
- Jan. 26 – Power up your networks! Face-to-face always beats online networking, and professional women need to cultivate our family, friends, work, spiritual, industry – and of course FHPW – networks.
- Apr. 27 – Power up your career! By beefing up our resumes and LinkedIn profiles we can attract $250K job offers commensurate with our many abilities and achievements.
- Jul. 27 - Power up your knowledge and skills! A panel of educators and AI experts will highlight continuing education, certificate, and degree programs specifically for today’s working women.
- Oct. 26 - Power up your political clout! We plan to resurrect the annual FHPW Politithon, where local candidates have tables to pass out literature and position statements and can meet and greet female voters.
I have set a membership goal of inducting a new member organization at each quarterly meeting. It’s only $150 for each organization to join, which is a fabulous benefit for your members no matter now large your group may be. Encourage some group to join us!
We are also planning a March/April conference and will invite corporations with women's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to buy a table and share best practices on how to support women in the workplace. This will boost corporate sponsorship of FHPW and encourage ERG members to join one of FHPW’s member organizations.
Our Women of Excellence Gala will be on September 19, and our theme will be “The Power of Influence.” Start thinking now about which of your members exerts the most powerful influence over her industry, the community, and your organization. My goal is to have a beautiful and profitable gala honoring 20 very powerful women.
I’ve been active in FHPW since the ‘90s, and one good thing I would like to resurrect from the past is the annual vacation trip, where FHPW members can really bond in friendship while recharging their batteries. I’m thinking this would make a great social event for the Women of Excellence Club.
Power is defined as “the ability to direct or influence the behavior of others or the course of events.” I encourage all of you to use your power to help make these exciting things happen. If we can pull this off during 2026, it will be a great triumph! Power up!

Our History
The Federation of Houston Professional Women began in September 1981 and was officially chartered by State of Texas in May 1982 as a non-profit, non-partisan business league. Our first Woman of Excellence Gala was held in 1982. We are in our 40th year as an organization and we have honored over 2, 400 Women of Excellence. Our history of connecting women in friendship, providing career and leadership opportunities, promoting networking and educational events, and unifying women’s organizations has enriched thousands of women’s lives.
