Federation of Houston Professional Women Educational Foundation 2011 Scholarship Application
Important – Read Carefully
- Scholarship checks will be made payable jointly to the applicant and the educational institution and may be used only for tuition, fees and books.
- Only applications that meet the FHPWEF Selection Criteria will to be considered for scholarship.
- Completed and signed application and supporting documentation must be emailed in a single zipped file (hard copy documents must be scanned and submitted as .jpg or .pdf files) on or before May 20, 2011 to be considered for the 2011 Scholarship. Only applications received via email will be eligible for consideration.
- Email to: scholarshipapps@fhpw.org . Place “[your name] - 2011 Scholarship Application” in the subject line of your email.
- Applications received after the designated deadline will not be considered. No exceptions.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered. No exceptions.
FHPWEF Selection Criteria
1. To be considered, scholarship applicants must:
- Be a woman pursuing an associate, bachelor or graduate degree.
- Be a United States citizen or have been granted permanent residency.
- Be a Texas resident.
- Have completed at least 30 semester hours of credit as of 12/31/2010 in an accredited college or university.
- Be enrolled to take six or more credit hours in an accredited college or university that has physical presence in Texas.
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Email completed application and supporting documentation in a single zipped file (hard copy documents must be scanned and submitted as .jpg or .pdf files)to scholarshipapps@fhpw.org
2. Submission of the following supporting documentation is mandatory:
1. Copy of Texas driver’s license (front and back)
2. Documentation from educational institution verifying tuition/fees
3. Applicant statement of reason for applying for the scholarship, 200 words or less
4. Statement of short and long term goals, 200 words or less
5. Most recent transcript (issue to student is acceptable)
6. Two letters of recommendation (prepared on letterhead of the recommender and showing his/her original signature) and submitted as a .pdf file as part of the emailed documentation.
7. Applicant biographical sketch, 100 words or less (appropriate for inclusion in Women of Excellence Awards Gala souvenir program)
- Only complete applications and supporting documentation received at the designated email will be considered.
- The application and supporting documents must be emailed in a single zipped file (hard copy documents must be scanned and submitted as .jpg or .pdf files) to be considered.
- The applicant will receive a reply email confirming that her application packet was received. This reply WILL NOT be confirmation that the application and supporting documentation as received are complete. If you have not received email confirmation that your application was received by April 29, 2011, it is your responsibility to follow-up by email to scholarshipapps@fhpw.org.
- Applications and/or supporting documents SENT AFTER the designated deadline will not be considered.
Selection Process
• The scholarship recipients will be selected by the Foundation Governing Board.
• Members of the Foundation Governing Board and their dependents are not eligible to receive scholarships.
• It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit to scholarshipapps@fhpw.org a complete and signed application and all the supporting documentation to be emailed in a single zipped file (hard copy documents must be scanned and submitted as .jpg or .pdf files) which must be sent on or before the deadline date as set forth above.
• The Foundation Governing Board accepts no responsibility for incomplete applications, applications not in proper form, emails not received, lost applications, or any other submission(s) in exception to the above instructions.
• The scholarship award will be based on the committee’s scores of the overall quality of the application and the supporting documentation and may include interviews, either in person or by phone.
Award Notification
Award notification will be sent by July1, 2011 to scholarship recipients.
