Minutes of Quarterly Meeting January 28, 2008
"Team FHPW...It's All About Us!"

 

The January quarterly meeting was held at the H.E.S.S. Club on Westheimer in Houston Texas.  The meeting was called to order at 6:15 by  President Connie Smith.  Connie welcomed and thanked everyone for attending after which Nancy Williams offered an invocation. 

Connie introduced the FHPW Board members in attendance:

Connie introduced the Advisory Council in attendance:

 

Sheri Parrack, Candi Clement, Judy Carlini, Kay King, Sherry Adams and Kelly Stallings.

 

Connie explained her vision for this year was to focus on empowering Member Organizations to achieve their goals by addressing general concerns of women in civic, community, personal and professional pursuits.  She stated that our new mission was to unite Member Organizations to promote a place of influence and power.

Connie then introduced Sheri Parrack President of FHPWEF and in turn Sheri presented the FHPWEF members in attendance:

Linda McAdams - Senior VP

Vicky Reynolds - Treasurer

Connie Smith - FHPW President

Pat Davion - FHPW President Elect

Sheri announced that it was the 15th anniversary of the foundation and it was her goal to bring the most money ever for scholarships.  She explained that we would be selling FHPW pins and bags to raise additional funds.  She also reminded everyone to use their Kroger Card which will also bring in additional funds.

 

Minutes from the October 2007 quarterly meeting were approved as presented on line.  Linda McAdams motioned for approval.  Vicki Reynolds seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Directors Reports

Gala - Linda McAdams - She announced that the 2008 Gala would be taking place on Saturday October 4, 2008.  She passed around a sign-up sheet for volunteers and sponsors.  She also announced a sponsorship contest that will be posted soon on the FHPW website.  Please contact Linda for more information on Volunteer and Sponsor opportunities at:

She also announced the Rehearsal Tea is Sunday, September 21, 2008 with Pat Durham coordinating the tea.  Photographer will be Karen Barfield, owner of Barfield Photography. Dates for honoree photos, and Deadline for photos will be determined soon.

 

Travel - Kay King - Announced the 2008 trip to Argentina July 14th through the 21st. February 15th is the deadline for the deposit of $500.00.  Please visit FHPW website for more information on this trip.

 

Membership - Nancy Williams - Stressed the values of networking and getting to know the powerful women in our organization.  She challenged all the members to review all other organizations they may be a part of and ask them to be a part of our wonderful group of women.

 

Database Director - Sheri Parrack - Announced that she had 34 organizations out of 48 had reported back to her the updated information for the Data Base.  She asked everyone to go back to their organizations and make sure they have reviewed the delegate and presidents information and reported it back to Sheri.  Her goal is to have a Perfect

Database.

 

Administrative Secretary - Marilyn Sander - Announced that 21 members still need to submit their yearly dues by the end of January to avoid a higher fee.  Forms are posted on the Website.  Please contact Marilyn Sander to make sure your organizations are current on their dues at marilyn@e-proact.com

 

Reservations - Carol Shepherd - Please make reservations by deadline to avoid higher fees.  Payment must be submitted before the meeting.  The vendor table pricing has changed.  Please see schedule:

 

Organization tables promoting events etc. $20.00.

Member organizations for personal business $40.00 or $100.00 for all for meetings.

Nonmembers organizations $75.00.

Education Director - Beth Caplan - Thanked those delegates for attending the Delegate update on that rainy January 15th, 2008.  She had planned a Presidents Summit in March and quarterly educational events that will follow with Connie's theme of Team FHPW.  She asked everyone to look at the Website for more information.

 

Website - Kim McCully - Kim encouraged member organizations to use the website to help promote their meetings and upcoming events.  She asked that new forms on website be submitted and the events etc will be posted in a timely manner.  She also reminded members to check out Volunteering opportunities posted on the Website.  She also asked that delegates submit updates as soon as new officers of their organizations are elected.

 

Programs - Raquel Furrer - Announced the next meeting would be April 28, 2008.  The topic to be present will include; "Successful Women in Non Traditional Roles" Please see website for more details.

 

Connie presented Past President Judy Carlini with a gift of appreciation from the 2007 Board of Directors for their appreciation of the splendid job she did as President last year.  Judy thanked the FHPW Board of Directors, the Advisory Board and FHPWEF Board of Directors for their support and hard work. 

 

Connie asked for the Group Organizations with the most members in attendance  to stand up and presented the winning organization Memorial Women's Business Network with the February Member Spotlight on the Website.

 

Meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.

 

Raquel Furrer introduced the speaker Barbara Hayley, Chief Evangelist Officer,
Hayley Ranch Consulting, Inc.  Topic: "Build the Buzz - Net Weaving at its Best"

 

There were numerous door prizes given out.
