Minutes of Quarterly Meeting April 28, 2008

"Team FHPW-It's All About Us!"

The April quarterly meeting was held at the H.E.S.S. Club on Westheimer in Houston Texas. The meeting was called to order at 6:20pm by the President Connie Smith. Connie welcomed and thanked everyone for attending and stated the vision and mission for the Federation of Houston Professional Women. After which Nancy Williams offered an invocation.

Connie introduced the FHPW Board members in attendance by asking them to stand and be recognized.

Connie introduced the Advisory Council in attendance by asking them to stand and be recognized.

Connie then introduced the FHPWEF Board members in attendance by asking them to stand and be recognized

Minutes from the January 2008 quarterly meeting were approved as presented on line. Kay King motioned for approval. Beth Caplan seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Directors Reports

Gala - Nancy Williams - Announced that the 2008 Gala had been rescheduled to Saturday September 27, 2008. She introduced her committee chairs and passed around a sign-up sheet for volunteers and Sponsorships. She gave a detailed time line for the event and encouraged everyone to participate! All information will be posted on the Website.

All Women of Excellence in attendance of the meeting were recognized by coming to the podium and given flowers that were donated.

Education Director - Beth Caplan - Announced that University of Phoenix will become the Federation-s premiere sponsor. The agreement was signed by FHPW President Connie Smith and University of Phoenix Director Christina Robinson Grochett and will be in effect on May 1, 2008. Beth explained that this agreement would allow FHPW more educational events for our membership.

Beth reported that FHPW will be a participant of the University of Phoenix Spring Career Day on April 22, 2008. She felt it was a good way to spread the word about FHPW.

She also announced a Presidents Summit to take place on Thursday May 22 at the Rainbow Lodge from 5:30-7:00pm. This is a meeting for the president of each of our member organizations to encourage networking and interactions between all of our member organizations.

Membership - Kelly Stallings - Presented the Women on the Move Express Network of ABWA to the FHPW to be accepted as new members. The members voted to accept this group as new members. The president was allowed to make remarks.

Reservations - Carol Shepherd - Reminded members to please send their reservation in for the quarterly meetings.

Travel - Kay King -Announced that 20 of our members were going on the 2008 trip to Argentina July 14^th through the 21^st.

Announcements

Connie recognized Kay King for being a gold sponsor. She also recognized the Memorial Women's Network having the most members in attendance.

Next meeting will be on July 28th and will be honoring the Women of Excellence.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.

Christina Robinson Grochett, Director of University of Phoenix lead a panel of Business Women who were the Top CEO's in their Field.

2. Deborah M. Cannon became President & CEO of The Houston Zoo,

3. Dr. Carolyn T. Sumners currently serves as Vice President of Astronomy and Physical Science, Director of the Burke Baker Planetarium, and Director of Astronomy.

Door prizes were given out by President Connie Smith.
